We are excited to announce that ICEC has found a new home! After a long search over many locations, we have to decided to stay at 1699 El Camino Real for now. Under the new building's management, they have promised us new rooms to expand, so we are working on gradually settling in to our space. Our wonderful teachers and helpers are still with us, and we are glad that so many of you are with us as well!
Compared to before, our space has certainly shrunk. Unfortunately, this means that we have limited spots open for all the students. If you are interested and eager to sign up, please do so as soon as possible.
Like during the early pandemic, we are still offering online programs (as well as in person) like Chinese and abacus class.
We're so excited to be able to open many programs back up. We have math, drawing, homework help, not to mention that we have pickup services back as well!
You are all welcome to come by and see our classrooms if you are interested. We'll have an Open House on MONDAY August 16th at 6:00pm. Bring your kids to take a look around and meet the teachers.
(We recommend that you wear a mask, wash your hands, and stay wary of the CDC guidelines. We're still taking extra care!)

Parent testimonial
"My children have tried pretty much every Chinese school from Foster City to San Mateo to Burlingame to Millbrae and by far ICEC is the best fit for us. It has a nice balance of academics, extra-curricular and fun activities. They are welcoming to all students even those students who have different learning styles. I love that they accommodate everyone and have classes that meet different needs. ICEC is also able to accommodate students at different fluency levels in Mandarin. There are classes for students who are fluent or near fluent in Chinese as well as classes for those who are beginners. Most importantly, ICEC makes learning Chinese fun.
My daughters actually ENJOY going there and ask me not to pick them up early. When I do pick them up, they are reluctant to leave. They are busy learning to write in Chinese, do Chinese calligraphy, sing songs in Chinese, do skits in Chinese and Converse in in Mandarin.
There is also homework help, art activities, snack and outdoor time. On top of this, there are extra-curricular classes that students can choose from. Art, science, basketball, piano, violin, computer coding, and abacus.
I am extremely impressed with the abacus class for the instructor is extremely knowledgeable and skilled at teaching this subject. It is amazing the mental calculations students are able to do including dividing and multiplying multiple numbers of more than 3 digits within less time than it takes to plug those numbers into a calculator. I have one child who loves math and one who struggles with math and they are both taking abacus for different reasons. My math-phile is excited to learn advanced calculations and being able to do these things in her head. My other child who struggles at math is learning new skills and strategies to help her advance in ways that she has not been able to in traditional school math classes.
Another thing I love about ICEC is that my children really like their teachers who they say are super nice.
Another plus about ICEC is that they are super duper convenient. They are located right off the 101 exit/entrance, right near the BART station in Millbrae and jut a few blocks from El Camino. Plus there are lots of places to eat nearby or pick up food for dinner. PrimeTime is nearby as well so a parent can get a quick workout in before 6pm pick up time if their schedule allows. I also love that housed in the same building as ICEC are other schools such as an absolutely WONDERFUL art school, a Russian Math school, and a Martial Arts School that my children really enjoy. The teachers at ICEC will walk my children to the classes at these next-door school for me. This is so convenient! I don't have to drive my children around to various classes, it is all in one location!
Most importantly, ICEC will pick up my children from their day school. They even pick up students from Burlingame Intermediate school. I am so grateful for this since there are not many after school options for students this age and I am a bit over protective and don't want my 6th grader wandering alone after school.
I recommend ICEC to anyone looking for a warm, fun, educational after school program that also adds the benefit of Chinese language learning as well."

"Cathy has created a wonderful, unique after school program that has exceeded my expectations. Both are energetic, enthusiastic, nurturing and highly experienced teachers. ICEC has given my daughter the opportunity to experience a rich mix of academic and enrichment activities, taught by excellent teachers. At ICEC, kids also have adequate time and support necessary for completing homework assignments from school. My daughter loves spending her afternoons there with her friends and teachers. I highly recommend ICEC as an after school program."

"I.C.E.C. has been a great resource for our family. My child loves attending, seems to be learning and I feel that she is well supervised there. I am very grateful to Cathy for working so hard to provide this wonderful community resource. My child loves Neal's writing class, and in the short time she has been attending, her writing has improved remarkably. Thanks Cathy!"
Best to you,
Kathryn Millbrae, CA
"The ICEC after-school experience provides my two children with a perfect balance of additional academic tutoring, homework support, and enrichment opportunities. Cathy has cleverly designed ICEC to deliver a broad range of after-school learning opportunities to children, offering skill development programs such as Chinese language, abacus, academic tutoring, dance, art, piano, violin, and more. For working parents, the convenience of such activities being so accessible under one roof is absolutely fantastic, especially given the excellent caliber and creativity of the ICEC staff and teachers. School homework is always a top priority, and any necessary tutoring is provided to help children accomplish their homework in a timely fashion. Our children are extremely happy at ICEC, and we are thrilled to be part of the ICEC family.”
