There are many new elements and interesting activities in our summer camp programs this year that are specially designed for our students:
  • Every week has its own focuses that are designed both for young and older kids;
  • There are many hands-on and authentic learning opportunities;
  • Many science learning opportunities with hands-on experiments and computer animations;
  • Opportunities to get close to nature and experience the beauty of nature;
  • Many outdoor activities and sports training programs;
  • Learning new knowledge and skills while having fun;
  • All activities are designed to promote creativity, collaboration, critical thinking and communication skills. 
There are many learning opportunities in ICEC Summer Camp:
  • Every Tuesday afternoon, English reading and writing class for different grade level students;
  • Every Wednesday afternoon, Math class for different grade level students;
  • Every Thursday afternoon, Mandarin learning opportunities for different grade level students;


Weekly Focus

Week 1.  June 5 -June 9  Crazy Mandarin Week
  • Embrace Chinese culture
  • Mandarin Story Telling
  • Chinese Poems, Arts, and History
  • Field Trip: Crystal Spring  Trail  
Week 2. June 12- June 16 Athletic Week
  • Training and activities in different sports including soccer, basketball, bowling, and more! 
  • Field Trip: Coyote Point/CuriOdyssey
Week 3. June 19 -June 23 Digital Cartoon Design Week
  • Design cartoon characters using digital tools
  • Create a storyline and produce sample videos
  • Cartoon Studio and Presentation
  • Field Trip: San Mateo Water Park
Week 4.  June 26- June 30 Nature Week  
  • Visit park/beach
  • Learn about animals and their habitats
  • Learn about plants/photosynthesis
  • Become an expert and create your own animal report 
Field Trip: Stow Lake
Week 5. July 3- July 7 Animation/Computer Science Week (NO July 4th)
  • Learn the Office Suite: Word, Excel, Powerpoint and iMovie
  • Create a multimedia presentation using the applications that are learned
  • Learn the basics of animation
  • Field Trip: Pacifica Beach
Week 6. July 10 - July 14 Art Craft Week
  • Use clay to create a model car 
  • Design the structure of a model airplane using digital tool and build your own airplane
  • Create a castle using clay, cloth, paper, and all kinds of materials
  • Field Trip:  Oyster Point
Week 7. July 17-July 21 Chess Week
  • Learn how to play  checkers, Chinese Chess and  Chess.
  • Field Trip:Half Moon Bay
Week 8. July 24 - July 28 Crazy Science Week
  • Reaction Rate experiments
  • Hands-on science experiments
  • DIY chemical reaction-- blow up a balloon using code air
  • Field Trip: California Academy of Sciences
Week 9. July 31-August 4 Geography Week
  • Learn how to read a map 
  • Design your own country map (Hands-on and Collaboration)
  • Learn about local geography/history
  • Geography in Asia (Mandarin Learning opportunity)
  • Field Trip:  Stanford University Tour
Week 10. August 7 -August 11 Lego Week
  • Learn basic knowledge about Mechanics/structures
  • How does a clock work?
  • How does a refrigerator work?
  • How does a computer work?
  • Create your Lego Masterpiece (Hands-on and Collaboration)
  • Field Trip: Golden Gate Park Boat Ride 
Week 11. August 14-August 18 Performing Arts Week
  • Learn knowledge of art materials and their skillful use from professional Chinese TV Host
  • Learn basic skills of performing/theater arts
  • Engaging skit activities 
  • Field Trips: SF Zoo
